James Wright, the Lib Dem group leader at City Hall, is standing for the Liberal Democrats in Norwich South in the likely inevitable general election.

James, who has represented Eaton ward since 2010, is currently chair of the council scrutiny committee and contested the Norwich South seat in 2017.

James has been a vocal campaigner against Brexit and worked to elect two Lib Dem MEPs for the East of England this May, an election that saw the Lib Dems finish way ahead of both Labour and the Conservatives.

The local election results are in, and I would like to thank everyone who voted Lib Dem in Norwich.

There is much to build on for the next set of elections in 2020.

Lib Dems back residents in road safety campaign

The Eaton Lib Dem councillor team are backing local resident Kate Heley in her call for a crossing on Unthank Road near Judges Walk, and have met with her to look at options.

Kate said, "This is an area that is frequently crossed, especially by students crossing from the Eaton Park area to Newmarket road or by families going to Eaton Park. Putting a crossing there would make that area much safer as there is no nearby crossing, and encourage walking."

The Liberal Democrats have slammed the Conservative Government for their "hapless treatment" of EU citizens after the Home Office released guidance on the new EU Settlement Scheme.

The Home Office has confirmed that for the duration of the trial period, until 30 March, EU citizens applying to stay in the UK must either use an Android phone or travel to one of 13 'document scanning' centres instead.

Activists from Norwich Lib Dems headed to London this afternoon to take part in the demonstration at Westminster ahead of the meaningful vote. It was generally good natured, but loud, with both camps making their feelings known! See the bottom of this article for some photos.
