Councillor Margaret Stone's comments on disabled people and whether they should be seeking proper levels of funding to enable them to meet all their social care costs have received widespread condemnation.

Outraged Liberal Democrat Councillor, David Harrison said "Councillor Stone is currently the chair of the Norfolk Health and Overview Scrutiny Committee. It is a powerful committee that has representatives from all the Norfolk District Councils and one of its key aims is to ensure that the needs and wishes for health and health-related services of all the population (including minorities, socially excluded groups and other targeted equality groups) have been identified towards achieving local health improvement."

"Notwithstanding any calls for Councillor Stone to resign as a Councillor, Councillor Stone should first resign as the Chair of this Committee. It is due to meet again next Thursday. Its wide-ranging brief includes looking at services for disabled adults and children and if the chair of the committee cannot treat those people with the respect they deserve, then it calls into question the whole integrity of the committee and its work."

"If Councillor Stone has not done the right thing by the time the committee meets, I will be seeking the removal of Councillor Stone as the committee chair at the committee meeting."
