Concerns raised over timing of parking charge rises

City Councillor Judith Lubbock has raised concerns about the timing of changes to parking charges at Norwich City Council run car parks. The changes will see rises of 10p per hour, with St Giles charges changing to £1.80 an hour and St Andrews to £1.70. Other car parks to rise 10p per hour are Chantry, Chapelfield East and Pottergate.

Quoted in the Norwich Evening News, Cllr Lubbock criticised the timing saying: "It's a fine line between getting the income to maintain car parks and persuading people not to drive into the city centre."

"We have a reputation to uphold...I thought this was better left until the new year."
