In response to the Public Accounts Committee report published today, Norfolk MP Norman Lamb MP, who first raised the matter with the National Audit Office in 2004, said:
"Local people relying on the Norfolk and Norwich hospital are paying the price for being guinea pigs in the government's flagship PFI programme.
"Additionally, nearly 10% of the hospital's staff now stand to lose their jobs.
"This appears to be a scandalous case of private profit at the expense of patient care.
"I shall be demanding that the Secretary of State takes responsibility for sorting out this mess."
