Norfolk PFI hospital 'scandalous' profiteering

Norman Lamb MP, Lib Dem Treasury Select Committee MemberIn response to the Public Accounts Committee report published today, Norfolk MP Norman Lamb MP, who first raised the matter with the National Audit Office in 2004, said:

"Local people relying on the Norfolk and Norwich hospital are paying the price for being guinea pigs in the government's flagship PFI programme.

"Additionally, nearly 10% of the hospital's staff now stand to lose their jobs.

"This appears to be a scandalous case of private profit at the expense of patient care.

"I shall be demanding that the Secretary of State takes responsibility for sorting out this mess."
